Why blend in when you can stand out?

Hello and thank you for visiting the creative hub that is Splat: Design by Camilla!

An artist and illustrator since I could hold a pencil, I’ve always been drawing something - whether that was in my free time or during math class in high school (sorry not sorry about that, profs!) As well as this, I’m a keen globe trotter and have made my way around 30 different countries (and still counting!) My favourites being Zambia, South Africa, Denmark, the USA, the UK, and Spain.

When I was 18, after hearing The Door's’ “Riders on the Storm,” (and scrambling to find out just whose baritone that was crooning on the record) I developed a keen fondness for the way-out art, music and psychedelic fashion unique to the 1960s. I didn’t realize it then, but I somehow knew that this era was going to play a part in my life down the track.

When I was 22, I moved to Chicago and traveled extensively across the USA as part of an international scholarship I won. It was a mind-boggling trip and a wonderful year, and my passion for creating only grew - but I didn’t know how then to bring my budding dream of creating on my terms to life.

Fast forward a few years later (and significantly more vintage pieces now gracing my wardrobe), and my creativity has boomed and continues to do so - particularly on my Instagram where I am most active.
